Global markets slide due to concerns over coronavirus
Coronavirus continues to shave off the world's leading stock indices. Apart from the Asian market, the European and American markets have taken a hit from China's deadly virus as well. The UK's FTSE 100 lost 0.85 percent, Germany's DAX declined by 0.94 percent, while France's CAC 40 shed 0.65 percent. The outbreak of coronavirus also had an impact on American companies. However, they are trying to stand firm despite the headwinds. NASDAQ remained almost unchanged, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down by 0.43 percent, and the S&P 500 also fell by 0.23 percent. In addition, the news of the spread of infection affected global oil market. Oil prices slumped by more than 2 percent. Moreover, according to Goldman Sachs, a further price drop of more than $3 per barrel is anticipated. Experts link the situation with the 2003 outbreak of SARS and expect it might recur.
