Theresa May rejects second referendum on Brexit
British Prime Minister Theresa May rejected suggestions that the UK should vote in a second referendum on leaving the European Union. She tried to persuade the House of Commons to vote for a draft agreement on the withdrawal from the EU. May believes that this will help to achieve progress in the Brexit situation.
During her speech, the Prime Minister noted twice that there will be no Commons majority for another referendum. She is sure that the parliament has to vote for the withdrawal agreement, ratified by her government and the EU, to avoid problems in the Brexit process.
Theresa May brought her Brexit deal back to the House of Commons to be voted on January 21. Last week, the parliament almost unanimously opposed this draft. Besides, the European Union has repeatedly stated that it does not intend to revise the current agreement. A new vote on the Brexit project is scheduled for January 29, 2019.
