IMF, World Bank Gatherings Highlight Woes over Trump Agenda

Global finance chiefs are convening Thursday, attempting to steer President Donald Trump's changing agenda away from protectionism and demonstrate support for worldwide integration and open trade.

The meetings of World Bank and the IMF are touching on the Trump administration's “America First” policy for the first time.

Former IMF official Domenico Lombardi, who is now connected with a Canada-based research organization, said they will discuss the aftermaths of his policies for the worldwide plan.

He added IMF head Christine Lagarde is seeking to mingle with the new US government to the institution's agenda and shape its policy options.

White House officials, conversely, are refuting these warnings by stipulating that other nations are more protectionist than America.
