Asian Stocks Mixed in Light Regional Data Day
Asian markets fluctuated on Friday, after a little changed to lower finish from Wall Street, in a light regional data day.
Japan's Nikkei 225 dropped 0.35 percent at 19,521.59. Australia's ASX 200 finished 0.24 percent higher at 5,799.6. South Korea's Kospi gained 0.67 percent at 2,164.58 as the won weakened versus the dollar. Mainland Chinese shares were in negative territory. The Shanghai composite fell 0.97 percent at 3,237.31 while the Shenzhen composite slid 0.81 percent at 2,029.73.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng was trading little changed in mid-afternoon deals. Shares of Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's flag carrier, was climbing 1.26 percent after the firm confirmed reports that it will aim for deep management cost cuts at its headquarters by 30 percent.The yen traded at 113.31 versus the dollar in early Asian morning while the Australian dollar stood at $0.7685. During Asian hours, Brent crude fell 0.14 percent to $51.67 per barrel while U.S. light crude was little changed at $48.75.
