    A German shepherd Gunther III, Countess Charlotte Libershtayn's pet, was the world's richest dog. In 1992, the society lady bequeathed $372 million to her dog. Gunther IV, the descendant of Gunther III, was lucky enough to inherit all the millions after the death of his relative. In fact, the wealthy dog lives high – it owns a vast house and a cabriolet. Besides, the millionaire pet spends its holiday on the Bahamas.

    A chimpanzee Kalou is another wealthy pet. Six years ago, Patricia O'Neill from the UK bequeathed the primate an enormous fortune of $88 million. Apart from the money, Kalou got the lady's real estate in Cape Town.

    In the late 80s, a cat Blacky was considered to be the richest pet. Its master, the director Ben Rea, bequeathed his cat $25 million. Thus, the cat was fixed up with excellent food and luxurious collars for a lifetime.

    Interestingly, even a hen got to the list of the richest animals. In 2001, a British publisher Richard Miles bequeathed $16 million to his pet hen Gigo.

    A lapdog Trouble Helmsley was another pet with multi million fortune. In 2007, the animal inherited $12 million after the death of its master, a hotelier Leona Helmsley. Ms Helmsley specified in her will that her dog should be fed only with fresh turkey and vegetables, it should attend a beautician twice a month, and it should visit Swiss healing spring once a year. Trouble lived four years longer than her master.

In the early 20th century pets were also treated decently. In 1931, Ella Windell from New York signed away $15 million to her poodle Toby. Apart from Toby, Ms Windell had other pet dogs which lived in the millionaire's house; butlers took care of them, and they slept in their own bedrooms with canopies.
