Food patch

Many have heard of a transdermal patch which heavy smokers use to give up smoking. Scientists took this smart patch as an example and decided to create its food analog which will be able to provide human organs with necessary vitamins and minerals. The last ones should penetrate into the pores of the skin, and then into the blood vessels that would spread them throughout the body.

The patches are supposed to contain a chip that will indicate the satiety level.

Military men, astronauts and miners are the first ones who would be interested in this new product.

Admires of the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have heard of chewing gum that can stay one's appetite and satiate the human body with nutrients. Perhaps, the creators of this chewing gum of the future were inspired by this very film. Either way, the scientists were able to create an exact copy of a fantastic gum. Its principle of operation is simple: interacting with saliva, capsules which contain useful microelements burst and get into the body.

Powder food

Powder food is mostly associated with a drink from the 90-ies. Just add some water phrase from a well-know ad of powder drinks could be heard almost everywhere.

Businessmen adopted this idea and decided to create its analog – the powder food which can substitute ordinary food completely, as they believe.

The creators of the Soylent brand promise that the edible powder will contain optimal amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fat - as much as is recommended by nutritionists.

One serving of miracle powder will cost $ 2.5, and after eating it, a customer won't feel hungry for about 5 hours.

Water made of metabolic products

The lack of drinking water is one of the urgent global problems. Bill Gates, who was recognized as the world's richest person by the Forbes magazine, supported an unusual campaign - he invested money in the Omni Processor project, the creators of which have came up with an idea how to produce drinking water with the help of human excrement. The trial version of the project was launched last year in Dakar where a third of the population has no access to sanitation.

Judging by the fact that Gates himself does not disdain to drink this water, the ready-made product is really clean.

Eggs made of plants

Gates invested in another interesting food project – vegan eggs. Biochemists from Hampton Creek Food invented this product. Powders of 12 plants including sorghum and peas are used to produce these eggs. The Beyond eggs, which is the name of this product, were firstly stored on the shelves of American supermarkets in 2013.

The main advantage of a vegetable egg is that it has no cholesterol, antibiotics and harmful microbes. Bill Gates added that birds aren't injured while manufacturing this product.

Ethical meat

Winston Churchill once said that the humanity wouldn't have to kill a whole chicken for meat, as it would be able to grow some of its parts in the near future. The politician was right: scientists of the 21st century have managed to get a piece of beef without killing an animal. Google co-founder Sergey Brin invested into the In Vitro Meat project.

In the US, a kilogram of such a product can cost up to $ 80 nowadays, but it will become more affordable after 5 - 10 years.

3D-printed food

3D-printers are becoming increasingly popular; new companies which produce these devices and firms which sell them, companies producing small parts and other items of a miracle machine are opened all over the world.

Nowadays, 3D-printing technology allows getting both plastic and edible products.

Anyang Kontrektor is the first engineer who was able to invent an unusual cooking method. NASA scientists have learnt about the innovative and presented the inventor with a grant for further research.

Here is the way how food is printed: cartridges containing nutrients are inserted into a 3D-printer (their shelf life is up to one month), after which the device produces edible pieces.

Jellyfish

The UN urges humanity to consider a jellyfish as a nutrient source, arguing that population of these animals is increasing, and this is the only way to get rid of them. The organization explains that the Asians have been eating rich in protein and other nutrients jellyfish meat for a long time. Additionally, the jellyfish meat is low-calorie, which is a pleasant fact for those who try to lose some weight.

Air Food

Harvard professor David Edward has found an alternative to solid food – he has invented product which shouldn't be chewed but inhaled. The device which supplies with such a meal is called Le Whaf. This machine offers a person substance containing tastes of the best-known products. The device works in the following way: liquid concentrate of particular food is put into a glass bowl. After that, this concentrate is broken down into the smallest slurry. The device can convert both solid food and alcoholic beverages into steam.
