European Stocks Start With Flat Note, Undertone Upbeat

  • European stocks started on flat to negative note with most of the indices down 0.1-0.2 pct
  • But undertone remains firm with decline in Spanish treasury yields and German bund futures as expectations of bold action by ECB with firm German backing prevented short sellers to initiate new position even near peak levels in 13 months
  • Reports in German magazines about threshold yield levels where ECB may intervene also helped the sentiment
