New Zealand Job Ads Decline In June

Job advertisements posted on internet portals and new papers in New Zealand declined in June, a report by the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group showed Thursday.

Total job advertisements fell 1.4 percent in June on a seasonally adjusted basis, following a 3 percent rise the previous month. Internet job listings fell 0.2 percent and newspaper job ads dropped 7.7 percent.

The trend in ANZ's composite series, which weights newspaper ads more heavily than internet ads, has been flat since it stopped falling in mid-2009.

This suggests that outside the usual churn, the labour market recovery since the recession has been relatively tepid, the report said.
