Great Britain continues to inject new money into circulation. Recently, a new 5-pound note on a special polymer film has been printed. Plastic 10-pound notes are to be printed next. The pound sterling is the first coin that got a brand new design and the best counterfeit protection. A new £1 coin bears a lot of remarkable features.

Interestingly, a 12-sided coin is made of two different metals. The outer ring is gold colored (nickel-brass) and the inner ring is silver colored (nickel-plated alloy).
