Sberbank considers actions of Ukraine’s authorities discriminatory

The management of Russian company Sberbank said that the Ukrainian government practice discrimination against its subsidiary company in Ukraine. The Russian officials declared this event politically motivated.

They seem to have forgotten that the two countries are in confrontation and even took offense when Ukraine closed several Russian banks or suppressed any cooperation with Russia. Sberbank representatives said that they are disappointed by the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to impose sanctions against Sberbank Ukraine. The Russian bank believes that the sanctions imposed by Kiev prove the undesirability of Sberbank investments for the Ukrainian authorities. It turned out Sberbank, a large Russian investor, was disappointed by blocking of the bank's branches, as well as by open vandalism under the passive eye of law enforcement agencies. Indeed, this can really disappoint anyone. Sberbank had to appeal to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko personally with a request to restore the law and order, unblock offices and provide proper conditions for normal customer service, as the bank works with several tens of thousands of Ukrainian legal entities and more than a million private clients who are the citizens of Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine promised to consider the request, but for now it is prohibited for Ukrainian banks with Russian capital to withdraw funds in favor of their parent companies.
