Another coin introduced in Latvian Fairy Tale collection

The Latvians devised a way to make 39 euros from 5 euros. Latvijas Banka issued a new 5 euro collector coin that can be purchased for 39 euros. It is the second coin in the Fairy Tale series and is called Fairy Tale Coin II. Hedgehog's Coat. The coin was named after a popular Latvian fairy tale. It is hardly known beyond Latvia, but now numismatists from all over the globe have a chance to explore the Latvian folklore.

The coin design was created by Gundega Muzikante, and the plaster model was made by Ligita Franckevica. The coin has an unusual oval shape. UAB Lietuvos monetu kalykla, Latvian mint, has already started issuing the coin. The obverse has the image of a princess holding a hedgehog and the reverse side features a herd of piglets following the hedgehog. The first fairy tale coin was introduced in November 2015. It was also a 5 euro coin, which design was inspired by the version of Five Cats fairy tale by Alberts Kronenbergs.

For those wondering what Hedgehog’s Coat is about, we are ready to tell it in short. Once upon a time there was a little hedgehog who was so smart, kind, and brave that he married a princess and turned into a handsome prince. That’s all, folks!
