Canada’s unemployment rises

Last month Canada’s labor market experienced higher levels of unemployment.
According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate in Alberta, the country’s largest oil producing region, was the highest in the country.
Canadian national unemployment rate rose to 7.1% in January, the highest level in two years.
Meanwhile, Alberta’s economy lost 10,000 jobs in January. Annually, employment decreased by 35,000 jobs. The province’s unemployment rate rose to 7.4 percent, for the first time in 28 years.
