Russia to place some limits on Turkish goods

Experts concluded that despite political discord, a loss of the Turkish market will cause new economic problems in Russia. After the government limited food shipments from several western countries, the Turkish suppliers partially offset this gap. However, currently, a list of restrictive measures in regard to economic partnership with Turkey is being compiled quickly. Besides, Russian tourists may be ‘banned’ from visiting Turkish resorts. Political pundits are sure that Russia will not dare to oppose Turkey openly and will act on the economic ‘front’. Some dangerous vermin will be found in Turkish tangerines, Turkish clothes and footwear will suddenly violate Russian requirements and the Turkish sun will turn out to be very bad for Russians. Still, serious measures that may hurt the Turkish government will be hardly adopted. Turkey almost lacks its own energy resources and more than a half of its domestic consumption is provided by Gazprom. The European Union has the similar situation. If the Russian authorities wanted to hurt both sides, they would simply stop gas shipments. But this would mean money loss which is, of course, undesirable. Therefore, the strictest limits will include bans for Turkish fruits, clothes and trips to the country.
