Greece interested in Turkish Stream

During the recent meeting between Russian and Greek ministers of foreign affairs it turned out that Athens is seriously interested in the Turkish pipeline construction. The meeting has shown that Greece fully intends to take part in such a large-scale project by all means. According to Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias has highly estimated the prospects of the collaboration in the energy sector as a whole and Turkish pipeline project in particular. Moreover, Greece submitted a request for possible support for the Kremlin’s consideration. Moscow is assessing whether to accept the request. It should be noted that there is a good chance the government will approve the request. The newly elected Greek government is practically the only one who appeals to Europe not to treat Russia in the light of the Ukrainian conflict. Nikos Kotzias also supports this idea. He is sure that it is necessary to establish relations neglecting the Ukrainian conflicts. The countries should get back to the previous ways of collaboration and restore relations. Kotzias said that Greece is ready to become a mediator between Moscow and Brussels.
