Spain Unemployment Lowest Since 2008

Unemployment in Spain fell significantly in April, reaching its lowest point since September 2008, according to data released by the country's labor ministry on Monday.

The total number of unemployed individuals in April was just over 2.67 million, indicating a decrease of 60,503 from the previous month. Compared to the same month in the previous year, unemployment fell by 121,870, or 4.4 percent.

The data also showed that unemployment declines varied across economic sectors. The services sector saw a reduction of 42,067 unemployed individuals, while the construction sector had 4,902 fewer unemployed. The industrial sector experienced a decline of 4,433 in its unemployed numbers, and the agricultural sector saw a decrease of 3,451.

Additionally, the labor ministry reported a marked reduction in youth unemployment. The number of unemployed young individuals fell by 16,925 or 8.26 percent, a rate more than triple that of the general decline.
