Dutch Inflation Eases To 2.7%, Lowest In 4 Months

Inflation in the Netherlands subsided to a four-month low in April, primarily due to the decrease in the prices of industrial goods, according to the initial estimate from the Central Bureau of Statistics published on Tuesday.

The consumer prices experienced a year-on-year rise of 2.7% in April, a slower pace compared to the 3.1% increase in March. The final data for April will be disclosed on May 7.

Inflation calculated utilizing the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) declined to 2.6% from 3.1% in March as well.

Excluding energy and motor fuels, the prices of industrial goods dipped by 0.8% from the previous year. The growth pace of energy costs decelerated to 3.3%, compared to a 3.7% surge a month earlier.

However, there was an increase in the annual price growth of food, beverages, and tobacco, which accelerated to 3.2% from 2.8%.
