CAC 40 Gains Amid Earnings Deluge

The French stock market experienced a minor rise on Friday, although overall increases were limited, pending the release of the Federal Reserve's favored inflation measure later in the day.

Simultaneously, France found its consumer confidence unexpectedly lowered in April, according to a monthly survey from the statistical office INSEE published earlier in the day. The consumer sentiment index decreased to 90 in April from 91 in the previous month, contrary to economists' projections for the score to land at 92.

The leading index, CAC 40, climbed 28 points or 0.4 percent to 8,045, following the previous day's 0.9 percent decline.

In terms of corporate news, the energy behemoth, TotalEnergies, noted a slight increase given the lesser than predicted fall in profit for the first quarter.

Saint-Gobain, a group specializing in construction materials, experienced a nearly 6 percent increase after their first quarter revenue surpassed predictions.

In contrast, aerospace manufacturer, Airbus, endured a 2.3 percent fall following a lower than expected first-quarter operating profit and cashflow.

At the same time, construction and infrastructure firm Vinci observed a 1.3 percent upturn confirming its forecast for the year.

In spite of posting higher revenue for the first quarter and maintaining its FY24 outlook, Safran, a supplier for the aerospace industry, experienced a 1.3 percent downturn.
