Concept cars of the French brand Peugeot have extraordinary speed modes and original design solutions and can claim the title of the motorway leader.

Recently, Peugeot has presented a concept car called Fractal. Peugeot Fractal is an electric urban coupé revealing a prospective design that explores the sense of hearing in addition to sight and touch. It makes driving even more instinctive, creating an unparalleled on-board experience.

Peugeot Quasar

Also the French car brand is proud of its own Peugeot Quasar concept from 1984. Behind the driver and before the rear axle is a 600 horsepower turbo four cylinder. The engine drives all four wheels. Everything else in the setup of the Quasar mirrors the 205, as well. Only while the rally car looks like an ordinary hatchback (a hatchback on steroids, but a hatchback nonetheless), the Quasar is full on supercar style.

Peugeot Proxima

The conceptual coupe Peugeot Proxima with the landing formula 2 + 2 is another reason for pride. This model was first introduced in 1986. It is noteworthy that even then the brand installed solar panels on the hood of the car.

Peugeot Oxia

Peugeot Oxia was manufactured in 1988. This is a super car capable of reaching speeds of 350 km/h. Technically speaking, Oxia was proud about having a 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, centrally mounted, which produced 670 hp (500 kW) and 720 Nm. It reached 96 km/h in less than five seconds, proving that the car was in some ways ahead of its time.

Peugeot 607

This concept made its debut at the 2000 Geneva Motor Show, to showcase the new 607. Underneath sat a front-mounted 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with 210bhp, and the running gear from that aforementioned Pug.

Peugeot 907

The conceptual coupe Peugeot 907 was presented in 2004 at the motor show in Paris. It is known that the car body is made of carbon, and the engine power is 500 hp.

Peugeot 4002

Another interesting model of the Peugeot is the 4002 concept, shown to the public in 2003. This machine was created by the German artist Stefan Schulze, the winner of the design competition from Peugeot in 2002.

Peugeot EX1

A Peugeot GT car with a socking great, 500bhp V12: what on earth were they thinking? “As in the time of the great coachbuilders, it combines a large capacity engine within a classical shape,” Peugeot noted at the time. Ah, that'll explain it. That V12 - a 6.0-litre V12 for good measure - was mounted up front, but crucially behind the front suspension, driving that monster power output through a six-speed gearbox to the rear wheels. The shell itself was built from carbon fibre, with side exit exhaust pipes, 18-inch wheels and a digital dash display in an analogue style. It even got a touchscreen.

Peugeot Onyx

Surely the pinnacle of Peugeot's creative nous? This is a properly astonishing thing. The dashboard's made of crushed newspaper, the seats are made of felt, and all that stuff that looks like copper? Well, it's, er, copper. This concept is no 5mph special either. Under the steampunk surfacing there's a 600bhp, 3.7-litre V8 diesel engine taken straight out of the 908 Le Mans. Even with all the copper bodywork, the Onyx only weighs 1,100kg, so its power-to-weight ratio is 545bhp/tonne. Slightly more than a 'normal' Bugatti Veyron.
