    On Wednesday, May 3, there was the debate of two main candidates for the presidency of France – Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen. It resulted in victory for Macron.

    During the debate, the French centrist leader Emmanuel Macron mainly criticized the programme of his opponent – the National Front leader Marine Le Pen – and spoke of his plans towards the country's development. Le Pen hardly objected to her opponent, that played into the hands of Macron.

    Foolowing the survey's results, conducted by BFM TV alongside with the discussion, 63% of the audience supported the centrist, while 34% of survey respondents voted for Le Pen. Answering the question, whose political project they prefer, 64% of the respondents concluded that the project of the leader of the En Marche! movement was better than one of the candidate from the nationalists.

    The votes of the citizens, which voted for other presidential hopefuls in the first round of the election, were obtained in a similar way. For example, 66% of the extreme leftist Jean-Luc Mélenchon's advocates stated that Macron, compared to Le Pen, was closer to them. 58% of the respondents, who supported the former Prime Minister of France François Fillon in the first round of the election, prefered the centrist candidate.

The discussion of the candidates for the presidency lasted more than two hours. The dispute addressed different challenges – international terrorism, French economy and the prospects of the united Eupore. About 2 thousand people over the age of 18 participated in the survey.

    The experts are certain that pre-election sympathies in France are clearly divided by geographical constituencies. According to the “map of sentiments” issued by the local MIA, most of the eastern, north-eastern and south-eastern regions of the country, as well as Corsica, support the nationalists. The residents of the western, north-western and south-western regions mostly vote for Macron. On election day, May 7, it will become known who will get the presidency.
