Estonian Inflation Eases To 3-Year Low

According to preliminary data from Statistics Estonia, the country's consumer price inflation has been steadily declining for the past three months, reaching a three-year low in April.

The consumer price index saw a year-on-year increase of 2.8 percent in April, a drop from the 3.9 percent increase observed in March. This is the lowest inflation rate since April 2021, when there was a 1.9 percent surge in prices.

In terms of specific sectors, annual price growth in clothing and footwear was recorded at 3.2 percent in April, slightly less than the 3.6 percent increase seen in the previous month. Despite this, the costs for recreation and leisure have risen by 4.2 percent compared to last year. Surprisingly, housing costs saw a 5.3 percent drop.

When looking at monthly variations, consumer prices increased by 0.9 percent in April, following a smaller increase of 0.4 percent in March.
