European Economic News Preview: Germany Unemployment Data Due

The leading economic reports for Thursday are set to include unemployment figures from Germany and monetary aggregates from the euro area. The UK Office for National Statistics is slated to release GDP and current account statistics for the fourth quarter, at 3.00 am ET. The preliminary estimate indicated a 0.3 percent sequential shrinkage in the economy as the year came to a close.

Simultaneously, Germany's retail sales and labor force survey results will be unveiled by the Destatis. Sales are projected to increase by 0.3 percent monthly in February, an uptick from the 0.4 percent decline in January. In addition, Swedish retail sales reports are scheduled for release at 3.00 am ET.

Germany's unemployment data for March will be released by the Federal Labor Agency at 4.55 am ET. Predictions peg the jobless rate at a steady 5.9 percent. Subsequently, at 5.00 am ET, data on monetary aggregates in the euro area are due for release. The M3 money supply is anticipated to witness accelerated growth of 0.3 percent annually in February, a surge from a 0.1 percent ascent in January.

Wrapping up the day's data releases at 6.00 am ET will be producer price information from Italy and inflation metrics from Portugal.
